Evaluation Question 4 - How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
In this blog post I will be discussing evaluation question four and which media technologies I used to help me present my research, planning, construction and evaluation.
I have been able to learn so much more about media technologies through this project, form blogging resources to editing software (Adobe). I have become more confident in editing visuals and images and am now able to create convincing photo manipulation and use darker colour correcting schemes. Through blogging I have been able to find many method to share what I have been learning. Blogger has given me a platform to show my steps and by using sites such as Emaze and Slide Share I have been able to demonstrate my findings and journey further.

Evaluation Question 2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
In this blog post I will be discussing how effective the linkage is between our horror movie trailer, poster and magazine.

All together I am proud of all three of the products, they link well and share similarities, through general aesthetic (colour, mis-en-scene, etc.) and content (title, text, etc.). They come together to show the themes of our film (illusions, deception) and link back to out sub-genre of psychological paranormal with the uses tone and overall look.

Evaluation Question 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
This blog post will answer evaluation question one, on how we developed, changed and used forms of real media texts in our poster, magazine cover and trailer.

Premier Tickets and Advertisement
For the premier my partner put advertisements all around our school building to get more people to come, this is a form of marketing through visuals and word of mouth. The advert lighthearted the location, time and date of the event, the titles of all the trailers and the rating (over 15s only):

She also created the tickets using the poster I created, these were handed out to some people to promote the trailer premier:

For the actual premier I created a power point that introduced our film, this got the audence ready for the trailer and showed them the poster and magazine:
All of these elements put together allowed us to promote our trailer and gain a connection to our audience in order to better our feedback.

Magazine Shots taken/mise-en-scene
These are the images my partner took for the front cover of the magazine. She shot them on a Cannon camera on a white backdrop (in the studio). She had the model try two different costumes, one with a black top and another with a over sized blue jumper.
Overall I think my partner got some good shots but the image need to be enhanced to get the full effect. The next stage is to begin layout and Photoshop work.
Close Mid Shot: This first image has a playful tone as the model is smirking and looking up. Although the lighting works well the tone is not what we want for our magazine.
Close Mid Shot: In this image the model looks out to the audience and is smiling with her eyes but not with her mouth. I like the idea of the model looking to the camera but the lighting could be more dramatic.
Close Mid Shot: This is the image we ended up using, the model looks straight out to the audience and has lots of negative space around her, making her seem isolated.
Close Mid Shot: this shot was taken from a slight lower angle and has the model tilting her head to the side slightly.
Close Mid Shot: this shot is taken from a side angle, the model still looks at the camera and seems as though she is hiding something.
Close Mid Shot: she now looks away from the camera with her mouth open as if she is scared. I like this image but if we wish to add effects on top later it may be harder to see.
Close Up: the model looks at the camera here and has slight open mouth to show shock. She also has a different outfit on which I think has a weaker effect because of it's light colour.
Close Mid Shot: this last shot has the actress looking confidently at the camera, this does not match the characters personality and therefore was not used.
Overall I think my partner got some good shots but the image need to be enhanced to get the full effect. The next stage is to begin layout and Photoshop work.

Magazine Cover Layout
These are the flat plans my partner designed for the magazine front cover:
We now need to enter the editing process, where we will take the flat plan and begin building up the layout.

Reseach into Film Magazine House Styles
In this blog post I will be exploring some film magazine, in particular horror movie covers or magazines. I have selected four to analyse:
Horror movie Magazines Analysis from hibah24
Overall I like the 'Empires' house style the most as it is simple and works well to show the movie but I also really like the creativity of 'Rue Morgue' as it has a vintage/retro feel and showcases the movie well. Out of these two I think Empire would be the best choice as it is more recognized and hold a wide audience who enjoy not only horror but other genres too (such as thrillers), and with a larger audience more people would see the film.

Creating The Poster and Image Manipulation
In this blog post I will be showing you how I edited the horror movie poster using Adobe Photoshop.
Overall I am happy with the outcome of the poster, it shows our genre well from the use of shattered glass. I have been able to learn many more skills from Photoshop through creating the poster and I believe it has heightened my editing skills.
